“Vicissitudes” is about the inevitable changes of life. Every song is about changes. From sorrow to joy, from challenges we experience new growth, from disappointment and emotional pain come bravery and spiritual maturity. From distress and desperation we move towards abundance and hope. There are seven original songs and three new arrangements of lesser known songs from the fuzzy border between jazz and pop. Unique structures, modern harmonies, and infectious grooves. This is a thoroughly contemporary jazz album, with its modern instrumentation and fearless exploration of new possibilities, yet it is still deeply rooted in the traditions of blues, swing, modern jazz and fusion, with a diverse roster made up of Chengdu’s finest jazz musicians and special guests from around the world.
