"Sing Sing Sing" Big Band 4/4/5 + 2 female singers

This is an arrangement I wrote inspired by the many versions of Sing Sing Sing that I heard before, and from my years of playing with smaller ensembles doing swing dance festivals.

We always ended the swing festivals with this number. It just pumps the atmosphere so high. And we can introduce the entire band one by one and then let the drummer rip and then take it to an even higher level to end the night!

For this one I wanted to feature our two excellent female vocalists, and do an audience interaction, which I always think is a great way to bring people into jazz: show them that they can improvise too and be a part of the music making even if they're not "professional musicians".

In African music traditions, there is no separation between audience and musician. Everyone participates in music making, whether by singing along, clapping, dancing, or playing a support instrument. I think this touches on the soul and core of humanity and shows the power and beauty of music, how it brings people together and moves us emotionally.
